THE Zambia United Local Government Union (ZULGU) has urged financial officers in the local authorities to ensure that they adhere to the provisions of the laws in regards to financial accountability.

The Zambia United Local Government Union president Emmanuel Mwinsa has observed that the currently , councils have a lot of audit queries as result of the reluctance by financial officers to adhere to the provisions of the laws when it comes to financial accountability.
Mr. Mwinsa says therefore there is need for local authorities and its officers to align to the government‘s policy of enhancing fiscal discipline in order to enhance accountability.
He says local authorities should ensure that measures are put in place when it comes to accountability when it comes to the utilization of the public funds to enhance service delivery.
