President Hichilema said this during the Tanzania-Zambia Business Forum held under the theme: “Tiyende Pamodzi: Scaling up trade and investment between Tanzania and Zambia.”
President Hichilema said that the vision of creating a 24-hour economy must become a reality.
“Equipped with advanced digital technology, we should progress from multiple border checks to seamless, borderless movement of goods on both sides,” President Hichilema said.
President Hichilema said, the country’s policy of economic diplomacy is aligned with that of Tanzania with which the country shares a common heritage, values and an extensive border.
“Our founding fathers, Dr. Kenneth David Kaunda and Julius Mwalimu Nyerere, harboured a shared economic dream for our two nations and peoples when they collaborated in building the TAZARA Corridor. It is now our duty to expand upon this vision by joining hands and overcoming any economic obstacles on our path to growth and development,” he said.
And Tanzanian President Dr Samia Suluhu Hassan has urged the business communities from both countries to collaborate and share business ideas.
Dr Hassan said the Tanzanian government identified the private sector as the driver of its economy and that Zambia should also do the same.
She has encouraged the delegates at the business forum to ensure that resolutions were implemented.
