The Zambia Revenue Authority (ZRA) has intercepted two trucks which had declared 33,660 cases of cosmetics and 5,040 cases of Redbull, for transit fraud.
ZRA corporate Communications manager Oliver Nzala says officers working on a tip-off, trailed the two trucks from Kalomo district after making entry into the country through Kazungula One Stop Border Post.
He adds that the goods were declared as transit goods destined for the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) but were offloaded in Makeni, Lusaka at one of the warehouses.
Mr Nzala further says the fraud would have resulted in Government losing over K1 million.
He has since encouraged members of the public to continue coming forward with information about tax evaders and smuggling.
