Sakala is reported to have attracted interest from Saudi Arabia’s Al-Fayha who have launched a £3.5 million bid for the 26-year-old former Sensational Zanaco FC striker who has been given the green light to find a new club by Glasgow Rangers coach Michael Beale.
Sakala may join his former boss in Steven Gerald and the likes of former Celtic players Jota and Moussa Dembele, Scotland international Jack Hendry, as well as a host of international stars including Karim Benzema, Ngolo Kante and Sadio Mane who have all trekked to Saudi Arabia.
Earlier, Beale indicated that Sakala would not be involved in Rangers league opener against Kilmarnock as he completes discussions with his potential new clubs.
“Fashion won’t be involved because he is away having discussions. He is a boy and a player that I have a fantastic relationship with but sometimes in football these things happen,” Beale said.
“An opportunity comes up and you discuss it between yourself and the player and from there something can happen. So, he is away having talks, nothing confirmed either way but he won’t be with the squad tomorrow,” he said.
Sakala first joined Glasgow Rangers in 2021 from Belgian top division side KV Oostende as a free agent.
He hit the ground running and proved to be a useful attacking option, helping Rangers to the Scottish Cup and a Europa League final in his first year.
The Rangers winger made 26 league appearances in that 2021/22 season, amassing 1, 166 minutes as they finished runners-up to their Glaswegian rivals, Celtics.
His return of 15 goal contributions was very respectable and it only got better the following year as he chipped in with 12 goals and eight assists.
