Banda, who brought Sportpark Ronhof Thomas Sommer Stadium to a standstill with her exciting performance said the Copper Queens were now game for the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup starting on July 20 in Australia and New Zealand.
Zambia will face Spain, Japan and Costa Rica at the World Cup where all the participating players will be paid US$30, 000 each by FIFA.
“This a dream come true because Germany is not a pushover team and we tried to hold them despite conceding the goals we did in the end but we did our level best and we are still working on that,” Banda said after the final whistle in the Copper Queens final friendly match played in Furth.
“We followed the instructions that the coach game us. First, we started with a draw so I think we have worked on the mistakes we had in the previous two games and I think the team is ready for the World Cup.
Everyone is pushing, we are determined and together we want to achieve one objective at the end of the day,” Banda said.
She said the international camp in Europe where they faced Ireland, Switzerland and Germany has helped the team to be ready for the World Cup.
Meanwhile, striker Rachel Kundananji, who also contributed a goal said beating Germany was “the greatest achievement” for the Copper Queens.
“This is the greatest achievement you know. Starting with a loss, a draw then a win. This determines where we are going. We are going to do our best we are going to fight harder until the end,” Kundananji said.
She said she was determined to make it a habit to score in each game after she also scored in the 3-3 stalemate against Switzerland.
