THAT a group of suspected homosexuals are able to gang up and burn a person alive for standing up to them is but a sign of a clear breakdown in the rule of law, Bishops Council of Zambia general secretary, Able Kaela has said.
Bishop Kaela said engaging in same sex marriage was illegal in Zambia and if there were a group that was being identified as a group of homosexuals by society, then the laws that prohibits the vice were not being enforced adequately.

Bishop Kaela was reacting to the story of a 25 years old man who was burnt alive in Chilenje Township in the area called Mapoloto on Saturday last week for standing up to some suspected homosexuals.
“Such actions are not Zambian, unchristian and should not be condoned in this country. I was shocked when I saw the videos circulating on social media. I was like, is it really in Zambia where such things are happening,” Bishop Kaela said.
Bishop Kaela said Zambia was a Christian nation which meant that homosexuality was not only illegal constitutionally but was also illegal by the Christian law.
He said government should come out clean on matters of homosexuality because, of late there had been a rise in suspected homosexual activities, including hoisting and flying of some LGBTQ flags at some embassies on Zambian soil.
And Police spokesperson Danny Mwale said the police were still investigating the arson case that happened in Chilenge and confirmed that five suspects were arrested in connection to the case.
According neighbors to the 25 years old man who was burnt, the man was burnt because he was trying to discourage his friend from hanging around a group of homosexuals at a drink spree on Friday night.
They said the group of suspected homosexuals perused the whole night and they managed to burn down his house as he was sleeping on Saturday morning.
They indicated that the said group of homosexuals were renting a house in the same locality.
