THE Chinese Jiangxi Natives Association in Zambia in appreciating its friendship with Zambia has organised a Photography Competition dubbed the China-Zambia Friendship Eternal “DaTong Construction Cup “Mobile Phone Photography Contest.
The aim of the competition is to describe Zambia’s friendship with China though Mobile Phone pictures.
The organisers are Chinese Jiangxi Natives Association in Zambia, Jjiujiang Association in Southern Africa and Jiujiang Chamber of commerce in Southern Africa. This is also in partnership with the Zambia Institute of Mass Communication and the Photography Association of Zambia and was open to all Chinese natives resident in Zambia as well as Zambians.
Speaking during the presentation of winners in Lusaka yesterday, organisers Chinese Jiangxi Natives Association in Zambia Chairman, Jun Zhang says the competition is aimed at giving visibility to the warm relationship between Zambia and China and that this can only be done through photography. Mr Zhang says the initiative will spur and solidify relations to even greater heights going forward. “Despite warm, Long standing bilateral relations between Zambia and China, there is little visibility and promotion of how this special relationship has evolved over many decades,’’ he said
It is for this reason that this competition was organised as an avenue for information sharing and publicity and it is hoped that this initiative will spur and solidify these relations to even greater heights going forward.
And Zambia Institute of Mass Communication creative and Production Manager Isaac Dumbe has hailed the initiative and says it will go a long way in showcasing Zambia’s relations with China through photography.
“It was an honour for ZAMACOM to be recognised and be a part of the this first ever China – Zambia Friendship Eternal DaTong Construction Cup mobile phone photography competition which is a brainchild of the Chinese natives living in Zambia,’’ Mr Dumbe said
Mr Dumbe commended the organisers for coming up with such a competition and urged the contestants to take this opportunity to showcase their talents more often as it was the beginning of a long journey in the field of photography.
Meanwhile, Zambian photographer Arthur Siamboole scooped third prize.
The awards giving ceremony was attended by representatives from The Embassy of People’s Republic of China, DaTong Construction company Limited- Chairman, Africa Oriental Post Group(African Overseas Chinese Weekly), and ZAMCOM.
