The Archbishop has called on Zambians to emulate St Joseph, the worker by being keeper of the poor and the weak to complete the responsibility tasked to them with complete fidelity and humility.
He challenged Zambians and leaders to share his concerns for those who were in difficulties, those who suffered, the weak in society, the marginalized, the poor, the old and the sick.
Bishop Banda said God entrusted Joseph the greatest responsibility on earth for all times to protect Gods greatest treasures, his incarnate son, Jesus Christ and his mother, the Blessed Virgin Mary, which he successfully fulfilled with complete fidelity and humility.
He said this during the feast of St Joseph the worker where he indicated that the greatness of St Joseph was not in words but in active service.
“Joseph successfully fulfilled this task and responsibility with complete fidelity and humility. This is our call to silently do our work each doing what he has been entrusted to do without undermining or interfering into the duties and responsibilities of the other,” Archbishop Dr Banda said.
Arcgbishop Dr Banda Banda said Jesus talked of good shepherd and warned of hired hand and that the hired hand did not own the sheep and did not care for the flock.
He said for the good shepherd the sheep were his goal and the reason for everything the shepherd did.
He however said that the hired hand on the other hand were just the means.
He said the hired hand punches the clock and shows up to receive his wages and when the shift was over he leaves and when the going gets tough they run away.
Bishop Banda also warned of wolves whose aim was to snatch and scatter.
“Where there is a hired hand there is probably also a wolf. Wolves jesus says snatch and scatter. Wolves destroy life, they destroy abundance,” he said.
