Zanaco seek redemption
By MICHAEL MIYOBA
AFTER giving up a lead to record a 2-1 defeat to Red Arrows in their last Super League fixture, Zanaco will seek redemption when they host rejuvenated Kanshashi Dynamos in a Week-18 fixture at Sunset Stadium.
The Bankers will aim to start the second round of the Super League on a positive note after missing out on the ABSA Cup.
A win will be crucial for coach Kelvin Kaindu who is expected to inspire his Bankers as they compete in both the league and the CAF Confederations Cup after making it to the group stage where they will face Pyramids, Sfaxien and Ahli Tripoli of Libya.
For Kaindu the second of the Super League represents the beginning of a new chapter for the Bankers who will have to trade carefully in both the local and continental championship.
“The beginning of the second round should give us a new chapter. We haven been consistent in the first round. We drop points when we think we are picking points but I think we have seen some improvements in the last games we have played. We have seen the cohesion of the team at least we have seen the picture that we have and we need to step up our gear especially that we will be waiting to get into the group stage of the CAF confederations cup. The draws are out and we definitely know that there will be four games we ate going to miss so starting the second round positively will be very important for us and we hope for the best,”
Kaindu described his charges ready for Kansanshi Dynamos who changes to their squad with the inclusion on Jese Were and Baba Basile.
“The window is open and every team is trying to reinforce their teams and Kansanshi is a good team I think, they are trying to build a formidable side, yes they have announced few signings that means they have a bit of depth and we have respect for them but as the day comes tomorrow we just hope for the best and let the best team win,” he said.
Kaindu will look to his topman Moses Phiri for the goal while Charles Lawu is expected to bounce back between the sticks.
Roderick Kabwe, Salulani Phiri and Kelvin Kapumbu are all expected to start after impressing in the previous fixture.
Meanwhile, Kansanshi will aim to start the second round on a positive note after investing heavily in their squad with the aquasition of Kenyan international, Jese Were and Basile.
In the early kick off at Sunset Stadium, League leaders Green Buffaloes will seek to open a three point lead by beating Lusaka Dynamos when the two sides meet.
Buffaloes will want to bounce back from two consecutive defeat to Power Dynamos and Buildcon while Lusaka Dynamos will search for their third win to come out of the relegation zone.
The Green Buffaloes defence which has proven to be the teams weakest link will have to come up with ways to stop Lusaka Dynamos striking force led by Emmanuel Chabula while league top score Friday Samu will be expected to grab the goals for Buffaloes as they aim to bounce back to winning ways after recording three defeats and two draws in the last five matches.
