SHORTAGE of fuel has hit Lusaka causing concern among motorists.
A number of filing stations have run out of the commodity.
A spot check in Libala, Kabwata and in the Central District Business found most fuel attendants lazing around because they have no fuel to sell.
Some fuel attendants talked to said they were not sure when they would receive their consignment.
Queues were found at Puma Interland on Burma Road as motorists scrambled to get the commodity.
And one of the motorists, Ms Judith Banda said the situation is pathetic because it will slow the economic activities of the country.
Ms Banda said the running of the economy is dependent on fuel, therefore this must be addressed immediately.
Mr Stanley Mubanga said that this situation may not only affect Lusaka residents but all Zambians across the country.
“If Government knows what is good for this country, they must continue running Indeni.
“Zambia depends on this refinery, if we really do away with it then we shall have serious challenges with fuel in this country.
“Middle men are important yes, but when you have a reservoir then the country is safe because we would have secured fuel,” Mr Mubanga said.
