ZAMBIA national futsal team assistant coach Witson Nyirenda has described the first Under-19 national futsal team camp as a success.
In an interview after the team broke camp yesterday after five days in intensive training at Automotive Indoor Futsal Arena, Nyirenda said the camp allowed the technical bench led by head coach Andrea Cristoforetti to familiarise themselves with the talent at their disposal.
Nyirenda said a lot of positives were picked from the camp which involved young players from different clubs in Lusaka.
“It was exciting and challenging at the same time since we are bringing players with different attitudes together but it was a good one and a lot of positives were picked.
“Today, I can say we have a strong U-19 national team and the future is very bright for the young boys and if we continue with the path we are on of holding camps often, I believe we will have a strong team which will be ready to compete at international tournaments,” Nyirenda said.
Meanwhile Nyirenda who is also Kitwe Bullets Futsal Club coach is confident that his club will pick maximum points against Lusaka Avengers in today’s Week-9 nine Football Association Zambia FAZ Premier Futsal League PFL match at Automotive Indoor Futsal Arena.
Motivated by a 10-4 win over Livingstone Pirates last weekend, Avengers will seek to upset the odds as underdogs against a more experienced Bullets who beat BS Stars 7-5 in their previous fixture.
In other FAZ/PFL fixtures, second-placed Kabwe K-Line will fight to maintain their winning streak when they take on Chipata Boys who will be seeking to bounce back from last week’s 9-1 defeat to defending champions Automotive FC.
Struggling Livingstone Pirates and newcomers Kafue Celtics will face off with Celtics in search of their first win after struggling in the last four games which they lost.
After dropping points in the last fixtures, Chipata Boys and BS Stars will both seek redemption when they face off to have a chance of moving into the top five.
In the National Division one league, Kafue Saints will take on Mthunzi FC while Blue Bombers will meet Mufana Mtunzi FC.
