Dear Editor,
THE people of Bangweulu constituency have expressed extreme disappointment on the conduct of the opposition candidates who contested in the Bangweulu constituency parliamentary election.
They have expressed concern over the selfishness and hatred exhibited by the candidates throughout the campaign period and after the 2021 general elections.
They wonder why the candidates went ahead to petition the parliamentary and local government elections results when they had no message for the people and knew for a fact that the Patriotic Front candidate was going to retain the seat with a landslide victory considering the magnitude of work of development he has brought to the constituency.
The people have since questioned what gave the losing candidates the perception that they would defeat the incumbent when some of them were being seen for the first time in the existence of Bangweulu constituency. Asked about their thoughts on the petition, a lot of people expressed ignorance of such a matter and quickly condemned the behavior of the losing candidates.
The people have since warned the candidates that Bangweulu constituency is not a place for political job seekers with selfish motives. They also advised them not to bring confusion in the constituency but rather development and progressive ideas to move the constituency forward if indeed they have the interests of the people at heart.
The people have also urged the newly appointed district commissioner (Mulenga Kayula) to work with the member of parliament, council chairperson, all civil servants and the community to push the agenda of developing the area and not partisan agendas or else they would protest his appointment as it was not done on merit.
