NEARLY all the Patriotic Front (PF) campaign posters that were displayed along the Mosi-oa-tunya Road in the Central Business District in Livingstone have been pulled down by the UPND supporters.
This happened during UPND President Hakainde Hichilema’s visit to Livingstone on Monday.
PF district chairman, Elias Mwila, condemned the damage to the party’s campaign materials by UPND cadres.
Mr Mwila blamed the police in Livingstone for failing to control the situation which turned from a roadshow to a public rally on the main road by Mr Hichilema.
“As Livingstone PF we are disappointed with leadership of UPND, a scenario of what happened whereby all our posters throughout Mosi oa Tunya road by the UPND.
“All our posters have been removed but when the Republican President came into Livingstone and the Vice President came into Livingstone and we did not remove even a single poster for UPND. But to our surprise when their leader came all our posters were removed,” he said.
Mr Mwila saisd the police should have moved in to control the crowd and also prevent the UPND cadres from removing the campaign posters.
“This is not actually a good sign for us. We want to put it on record that I have seen for myself the destruction UPND has caused.
“At the check point, we found that there were no police officer, as far as we are concerned, what happened was more than a roadshow. Hundreds of vehicles and they were even blocking the traffic,” he said.
