FORMER Zambian boxing heavyweight champion Joseph ‘No Pressure’ Chingangu has been arrested for trafficking in cannabis.
Chingangu 52, of Chilenje Township in Lusaka, was arrested together with three others in Chibolya compound after an operation conducted by the Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC).
DEC confirmed the arrest of the former boxer in a statement issued to Daily Nation yesterday.
“The Commission has arrested four people for various drug related offences in an operation conducted in Lusaka’s Chibolya Township.
“Those arrested include Joseph Chingangu, 52, of Chilenje Township for trafficking in cannabis,” read part of the statement.
This is the fourth time Chingangu is being found wanting for breaking the law.
In 2016, the former boxer was arrested for aggravated robbery but was acquitted.
Months later an angry mob of University of Zambia students applied instant justice by beating him for allegedly stealing a lap top from one of the rooms in campus.
Last year, in April, he was sentenced to six months imprisonment by the Lusaka Magistrate Court for house breaking.
