FORMER Foreign Affairs Minister, Harry Kalaba is not being grateful to President Edgar Lungu for failing to bring out his grievances as a senior member of the Patriotic Front while he was in Government, says former Lusaka Mayor Daniel Chisenga.
Mr Chisenga said it was most unfortunate that Mr Kalaba has chosen to malign the party when he could have easily raised the issues that have been affecting him, but he never raised any of those issues in the PF.
He said Mr Kalaba was part of the numerous consultative meetings on the running and performance of the PF as a ruling party in Government, but that he never brought out those issues.
“He was not someone who was in PF for a very long time, but he had all the opportunities that came along his joining the PF.
“He became a Member of Parliament within a short time while and later on he even became a minister which many other members who have been in PF longer have never had an opportunity. So to some extent, he has not been grateful to President Lungu,” he said.
He said if indeed there were issues which were affecting him and the party, he should have brought them out at the various fora and that the party could have given him an opportunity to be heard.
Mr Chisenga said Mr Kalaba was a quiet hard working Member of the Central Committee and the party in general who could not be aligned to any claims or complaints against the party such as those coming out when he’s out.
Mr Chisenga who is Lusaka PF treasurer said the Bahati MP must rethink his decision and come back to the party.
“For us he was performing quite well, “I only wish he could think through his decision and remain a member of the party. How could he just came out suddenly and start condemning a system he was part of when he was there and he couldn’t raise his voice to attack internally,” Mr Chisenga wondered.
“I could urge him as my elder brother to think through his decision and refrain from making a quick decision to joining one of these mushrooming political parties with no substance.”
