Visiting Nigerian filmmaker and actor Nkem Owuoh popularly known as Ukwa says his second coming to Zambia is to learn from the Zambian comedians and artistes and engage in an exchange programme.
The ‘Osuofia in London’ actor was speaking to journalists upon arrival at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in the early hours of Tuesday.
“I am here not so much to teach, but to also learn from the comedians and artistes here because learning never ends. I know we will have a lot of things to share and exchange during my visit,” he said.
Ukwa also declared that he is ready for the Comedy Explosion Show to be held this Friday at Mulungushi International Conference Centre starting at 19 hours. He said comedy is a passion and his performance at Mulungushi will be centred on that.
The Nigerian film and comedy icon was welcomed by Comedians Association of Zambia president Chibwe Katebe, veteran comedian and coordinator of tomorrow’s comedy event Derrick Kondowe aka Dangerous Joburg and pioneer of Zed music Leo Muntu as well as Andrew Zulu of Andre Entertainments among others.
And speaking at the same occasion, Chibwe Katebe said it was a great honour for Zambia to host such a legend. He appealed to all fans to turn up in large numbers and support the show tomorrow.
The Comedy Explosion featuring Ukwa will also attract a number of performances from local comedians. Dangerous Joburg has also hinted that there will be something big Ukwa and some local comedians will work on while he is still in Zambia.
