ROBBERS have snatched K 9,000 at gunpoint from Lake Harvest Mkushi branch in Central Province in a daring movie like stunt.
An impeccable source told the Daily Nation yesterday that on Thursday evening, four armed robbers stormed Lake Harvest Mkushi shortly after a normal business day between 18:40 hours and 18:50 hours and demanded that the cashier only identified as Mathilda should open the till and lie down.
The source said the four gunmen got phones and a handbag of the cashier and other Lake Harvest employees while the car they had parked outside kept raving.
He said the cashier and another Lake Harvest employee were taken to the cold room but that fortunately they did not lock it and the man kicked the door open.
‘‘Yes, its true we were robbed, four armed men came in as the cashier was balancing her accounts and walked away with about K 9,000 cash,’’ he said.
By press time, Lake Harvest management was yet to go to the police and give more details on the incident.
Efforts to get a comment from Police spokesperson Esther Katongo and Central Police Commissioner proved futile as their mobile phones went unanswered.
