HAKAINDE Hichilema and Chishimba Kambwili discussed the possibility of ‘joining forces’ during a visit at Mukobeko Maximum prison last week, says expelled Patriotic Front (PF) Central Committee member Mwenya Musenge.
“What came out was for us to find a common ground so that we are able to work as one but we did not agree to that moreover we have not yet registered our political party,” he said.
Mr Musenge said Mr Kambwili had a discussion with Mr Hichilema just like any other party to look at common ground, put effort together and join forces.
He however clarified that no agreement was reached between Mr. Hichilema and Mr Kambwili regarding a working coalition.
“We are not in a hurry, we are not even looking at 2021. It is only that I regard myself to be in the opposition now and UPND is in opposition so there is nothing wrong to interact and share ideas but our trip to Mukobeko was purely to visit incarcerated Hakainde Hichilema just like I had attempted last time when I was ejected out.
“In fact, I don’t know why it is bringing so much excitement whenever we do a visit because we found Green Party president Peter Sinkamba with his vice president who had been waiting for over four hours trying to negotiate their way through with a letter from Kampyongo (Home Affairs minister) who had written a letter to authorize them but nobody showed any interest in them apart from Musenge and Kambwili and a party hasn’t even been formed but you find that it is the most spoken about,” Mr Musenge said.
“We had a discussion with of course Hakainde Hichilema, just like any other political party, we have engaged a number of political parties that we have spoken to who have actually approached us, that we should look at the common ground, put our efforts together and join forces but that is not our approach,” he said.
