THE Electoral Commission of Zambia (ECZ) has raised some preliminary concerns over Mwenya Musenge’s political party symbol and structure before ratification and approval.
Mr. Musenge who is former Chimwemwe Member of Parliament and Copperbelt minister, told Daily Nation that the process of registering his political party started smoothly until ECZ raised some preliminary concerns over his party symbol.
Mr. Musenge, however said he was determined to resolve the preliminary concerns raised by the ECZ over his party’s symbol.
Asked whether his party symbol could be similar to that of PF or any other party, Mr. Musenge said his was totally different from all other political party symbols.
He said ECZ must ratify and approve his political party symbol before formally submitting an application form to the Registrar of Societies under the ministry of Home Affairs.
And Mr. Musenge said he was not aware of any attempts by government to block him from registering his party.
“I don’t think so. That is not true…The process is going on fine. I think as at now we are just trying to resolve a little issue with the Electoral Commission of Zambia. Once that is resolved then we shall be able to submit our formal application,
“There is something that we are working on and trying to resolve with the Electoral Commission of Zambia and that has to do with the party symbol and structure,” he said.
He explained that after giving them his party symbol, ECZ raised some preliminary concerns.
Meanwhile, the expelled PF Central Committee member has dispelled online media reports suggesting his attempts to register own political party have been blocked by Home Affairs minister Stephen Kampyongo on instructions from State House.
