IT WAS a sheer waste of resources and time to adopt and campaign for Mwenya Musenge in the 2016 elections as it is now clear where his loyalties lie, the PF in the Northern Province has charged.
Provincial vice chairperson for elections Chibwaya Muma told the Daily Nation that Mr. Musenge was now showing true colours of what kind of a politician he was after pretending to be loyal to PF.
Mr. Muma said the party had better candidates who could have easily won the seat but chose to give chance to Mr Musenge who lost anyway.
He said the PF was a serious political party that believed in unity of purpose and intra-party democracy and that those who thought they were bigger than the party were wasting their time as no individual had the powers to dictate what course of action the party should take on a number of issues.
“The party gave Mr. Musenge all the backing and support he needed but because he was not just saleable, he lost and we cannot be held to ransom over his failure. Actually, he should be grateful that the party adopted him ahead of other better candidates. He should be loyal rather than being antagonistic for nothing because the party has nothing to lose.
“Even if some people are cheating him that he has the political acumen to stand on his own or with the people misleading him, how does he expect people from other regions to accept him as a good politician when his own people rejected him? He is not being sincere to himself and the path he is taking is dangerous,” Mr. Muma said.
He said Mr. Musenge and his tandem of praise-singers were bound to falter as they had no vision to woo the admiration of Zambians who knew their background better.
“You see, the best thing you can do when you realise that you are better than others is to come out in the open. Claiming that they are popular while holding on to the PF party tag is simply ridiculous and does not make any sense. If they are strong, why should they be holding dark corner meetings? Why not coming out in the open or leave the PF?
“Politics is not for children. For those who think they can survive outside PF, they are at liberty to leave and form their own parties because no one can claim that they are members of the party yet they are fighting the same party. When you look at their trail of activities, it is just Copperbelt. Why have they failed to penetrate Northern and Muchinga? It is because they are not factors. I don’t know if there is any presidential candidate who can win with support from one province only,” he said.
