TURKEY’S international news and information organisation is next month expected to send a delegation of correspondents to Zambia to gather news on tourism and investment opportunities aimed at showcasing the country to potential investors and tourists.
The decision to undertake the trip to Zambia was an outcome of talks held between chargé d’affaires at the Zambian embassy in Turkey, Bwalya Nondo, and Anadolu Agency deputy director-general Metin Mutanoglu in Turkey.
Mr Nondo said collaboration in the media industry between Zambia and Turkey would promote bilateral relations between the two countries and enhance understanding and appreciation of the two countries’ cultures through sharing of information.
Mr Nondo visited the news agency to explore ways in which the media house could collaborate with Zambia and also help create Zambia’s visibility in Turkey and beyond, as an ideal investment and tourism destination.
He said Zambia was a preferred investment destination because of its impeccable democratic credentials, and investment incentives.
Mr Nondo said the Zambian mission in Turkey was seeking avenues on how best it could work with Anadolu Agency to bridge the information gap and enlighten people about the two countries on issues of public importance.
During the meeting, it was also agreed that a memorandum of understanding (MoU) be signed to provide for exchange of news and information between Zambia and Turkey, to include training and technical support.
And Mr Mutanoglu urged Turkish investors to venture into African countries like Zambia which was not only endowed with abundant natural resources but a stable political environment too.
He said a media delegation from his organization would visit Zambia next month to produce documentaries and gather news for dissemination to the people of Turkey about available investment opportunities in Zambia.
Mr Mutanoglu said Anadolu Agency would immediately set into motion initial steps of drafting the MoU for cooperation with Zambia in the media industry to add to the current 70 cooperation agreements it has with national news agencies worldwide.
