Dear Editor,
I write after a wide misgivings by a lot of voters about not only the calibre but behaviour and turn of events of their civic leaders after ushering them into office.
Not too long ago I mentioned about the humility of some civic leaders we voted into office and even went ahead and gave two examples of the Republican President Edgar Lungu and Kitwe Mayor Christopher Kang’ombe, to mention but a few as exemplary.
It is good that we now know that some civic leaders chosen were just after personal grandiosity to the extent of arrogantly telling the electorates that they were just used for votes and not to advance their welfare.
It is good that barely six months after being into office, we are able to know and realise the deadly mistakes we made as voters.
These same leaders are, however, bound to be the ones again adopted for elections come 2021 knowing how our adoption process is manipulated, so watch out.
It is now up to us as voters who are actually the bosses to take keen interest and know them and make sure that come 2021, we are again not going to be used by them.
Let us not condone any civic leader who takes to arrogance when voted into power.
Some civic leaders have even started aligning themselves with the party for higher positions so that they can easily adopt themselves when that time comes.
It is high time we stopped voting for political parties but credible leaders regardless of the political party ticket they are contesting on. That way, we shall stop always complaining.
