‘Copperbelt got massive talent’-Kasuli
By TERENCE MISELO
ZAMBIAN music promoter and radio DJ Francis Suwilanji Mulenga aka DJ KingSuli of Tekembo Media says he is overwhelmed by the massive music talent present on the Copperbelt and calls on music promoters and producers to widen their search. |
Speaking in an interview in Lusaka KingSuli also called DJ Kasuli said he wants to see a situation where talent search and promotion is spread to Copperbelt and not only concentrated in Lusaka because there are a number of young people lacking support in the province.
“Music on the Kopala[Copperbelt] has really grown in the sense that we have so much talent in all genres, be it R&B, Dance hall, Afro Pop to mention only a few. But the most influential is hip hop. Artistes there are very supportive of one another and we have a lot of young talent. This is talent that needs support from music promoters. I urge them not only to concentrate on Lusaka but tap talent from the Copperbelt,” he says.
Now based in Ndola and working for Sun FM Radio, Kasuli has been very instrumental in promoting Zambian music and has served as a useful link to Lusaka for musicians on the Copperbelt.
Currently he is working with artistes like Nash Q, CreamDollar, Coziem, Empire Squad, Mofadoh, Mawila Malenga and Ababombola. Others are Anza A4, Alanizo , Phil G and the Goon Squad
He adds that there is great support for Zambian music on the Copperbelt which is a big motivation to the artistes.
