Man blazed by cousin dies

A LUSAKA resident of Lilanda Compound, identified as Gibson Zulu, has died after he was allegedly assaulted and set on fire in an incident now under police investigation.
Mr Zulu died on March 9, 2026, around 21:30 hours at Levy Mwanawasa University Teaching Hospital, where he had been receiving treatment for severe burns and head injuries sustained during the attack.
Zambia Police Service Public Relations Officer Godfrey Chilabi said that following Mr Zulu’s death, police have opened a murder docket and are looking for the suspect identified as Allan Chibuye, who is on the run.
“The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Levy Mwanawasa University Teaching Hospital mortuary awaiting a postmortem,” Mr Chilabi said in a statement.
