EX-COMMUNICATED Chama South Patriotic Front (PF) Member of Parliament Davison Mungandu has sensationally admitted that he and other PF members were criminals who plundered national resources in a bid to sabotage President Hakainde Hichilema before he was sworn into office.
Speaking at President Hakainde Hichilema’s mass rally in Choma yesterday, Mr Mungandu said the PF deliberately destroyed the country’s economy so that President Hichilema would fail once he assumed power.
“This is a country that Hakainde Hichilema inherited. I want you to carry this message. Everything that Hakainde Hichilema inherited was destroyed so that he fails,” Mr Mungandu said.
He openly branded the PF as thieves, including himself, and cited what he described as a massive money heist carried out just days before President Hichilema’s inauguration.“Mr President, I rarely give examples and mention people in my political discourse. But on this one, I want to give examples, simple examples, which happened as a final destruction that we caused,” he said.Mr Mungandu alleged that millions of dollars were illegally externalised by the PF leaders in an attempt to cripple the incoming government.“Just one example. We carried US$9 million. This is the biggest money heist in Europe by an African man. In Turkey, US$9 million, we carried it in bags when we knew that Hakainde Hichilema would be sworn in next week, to destroy everything,” Mr Mung’andu said.
Addressing UPND supporters who he said were frustrated by the pace of economic recovery, Mr Mungandu urged them to be patient, insisting that the damage caused by the PF was extensive.
“I want you who are doubting, because I know here there are those who are saying we suffered with Hakainde Hichilema, we have now formed government. Why are we not enjoying the way PF were enjoying. I know you are here, and I want to give you hope,” he said.
He praised President Hichilema, describing him as exceptionally intelligent and capable of rebuilding the country.
