THE suspended councillors of Chongwe Council, including the Mayor, have made a heartfelt appeal to the President and the Minister of Local Government to review and resolve their suspension, which has been in effect for approximately seven months.
The suspension has resulted in a significant leadership gap, bringing council business to a standstill and adversely impacting progress and development initiatives in the district.
Madido Ward Councilor, Janet Chisenga said the prolonged absence of leadership has contributed to stagnation in the district, affecting not only the councillors but also their families, who rely on them for support.
Ms. Chisenga has humbly requested that the President and the Minister of Local Government look into this matter with urgency, considering the adverse effects it has had on the district’s development and the well-being of the councillors and their families.
She added that councillors hope for a favorable response that will enable them to resume their duties and contribute to the growth and development of Chongwe.
Meanwhile, area members note that the resolution of this matter is crucial for the district’s progress, as it will allow the councillors to regain their roles and work towards the betterment of Chongwe.
