THE trial of former First Lady Esther Lungu, who is facing charges of theft, has been adjourned to June 24 after the trial magistrate, Mbuywana Sinvula, was reported to be unwell.
Mrs Lungu is charged alongside police officers James Phiri and Lee Chisulo, as well as Kapambwe Lungu and Catherine Banda, with the theft of three motor vehicles and a certificate of title for a house in Libala.
The case was mentioned before Magistrate Mwandu Sakala, who adjourned the matter to June 24.
According to the charges, the accused allegedly stole a Toyota Runx, a Toyota Alex, and a certificate of title relating to property located in Lusaka, valued at over one million Kwachas ($47,190). The property allegedly belongs to James Phiri.
Mrs Lungu was accompanied by PF officials and members led by Secretary General Raphael Nakacinda.
