FRANK Bwalya says Dr Fred M’membe, the Socialist Party president is a bitter person.
Mr Bwalya, formerly a staunch PF member who briefly worked with Dr M’membe, said the SP leader was agitating for Zambians to rise against the government because he had hatred for President Hakainde Hichilema driven by bitterness.
The former Catholic priest is the UPND Presidential Support Team media director.
He said it was easy to tell that Dr M’membe was a man filled with a deep hatred for President Hichilema and his bitterness was hard to conceal.
“When you look at the demeanor of Dr Fred M’membe at that press conference, you will be wondering what troubles this man? And I’m sure Zambians would agree that the man is driven by hatred for HH. HH did not close the Post by the way. But the man is driven by hatred towards HH,” Mr Bwalya said.
He said Dr M’membe overrated himself and thought that Zambians could heed to his call for an uprising.
“The man overrated himself to a point where he thinks over these constitutional matters, Zambians would rise and set this country on fire and that President Hakainde Hichilema will run away and Zambians will say, let Fred M’membe rule us. That is what the man believes, it will not happen,” Mr Bwalya said.
He said no Zambian will die for participating in the constitution amendment debate.
“No Zambian will die because they are saying the constitution will not be amended. No Zambian should die because they are saying the constitution should be amended and those who are saying that have not died because the government wasn’t to shoot them or they are asking someone to go and kill them. We want to assure them that they will not die,” Mr Bwalya, said.
“They are not the first ones to oppose the amendments over issues to do with the constitution. As a matter of fact, differences in opinion over this matter should be celebrated. We are a vibrant democracy and people are freely participating. And Fred M’membe is desperate,” he said.
