THE International Tennis Federation (ITF) Development Officer for Southern Africa, Tapiwa Masunga has commended the Zambia Tennis Association for settling outstanding affiliation fees.
Speaking on her visit to Zambia, Masunga stated the importance of ZTA demonstrating its good standing by hosting a significant tennis competition, which would showcase its renewed commitment to the sport.
Additionally, Masunga called upon the NOCZ to extend its support to ZTA, highlighting the need for opportunities that could revitalise the sport.
She also expressed interest in working with ZTA to establish a few tennis courts at the OlympAfrica Centre, which would enhance accessibility to training for young aspiring players.
NOCZ secretary general Boniface Kambikambi also commended the ZTA executive for clearing its affiliation dues with the ITF.
Kambikambi pledged the NOCZ’s support for initiatives that would foster the growth of tennis in the country, ensuring that more athletes benefit from international exposure and opportunities.
He also underscored the importance of maintaining a robust governance structure within the ZTA to facilitate sustainable development.
Meanwhile, ZTA president Lighton Musonda highlighted the association’s ongoing engagements with the ITF since its re-admission.
He noted the crucial role of the NOCZ in supporting national federations and expressed the association’s eagerness to work closely with both the ITF and NOCZ to drive the growth of tennis in the country.
