FORMER First Lady Esther Lungu has expressed frustration over prolonged court proceedings, stating that she had to sit for hours in courts listening to what she described as lies by those who have maliciously dragged her to court.
Mrs Lungu said it was unfair that she was made to sit for hours just to listen to the testimony full of lies of Fuhana Patel, the great granddaughter to Chief Mukuni of the Toka Leya people, spewing lies against her.
“God is in control. Surely, we cannot be made to sit in court from 09:00 hours up to 15:30 hours just to listen to lies. From the word go up to the end, you are telling lies.
God forbid,” she said following a court session.
She said this when she addressed her supporters and sympathisers, who included senior Patriotic Front (PF) officials who had gone to offer solidarity to her.
Mrs Lungu is jointly charged with police officers James Phiri and Lee Chisulo, along with Kapambwe Lungu and Catherine Banda,
on charges related to the theft of motor vehicles and a house in Libala South.
They have denied the allegations.
