ADVOCATES for People’s Prosperity (APP) has questioned why the former First Lady, Christine Kaseba Sata, Mulenga Sata and other members commemorated the 10th memorial service for the late President Michael Sata at the Anglican Cathedral of the Holy Cross instead of the Catholic Church.
APP president, Mwenya Musenge said much as he has respect for the Dr Kaseba and Mulenga Sata, he wondered why they chose to remember the late President from Anglican Cathedral of the Holy Cross instead of the Catholic Church.
Mr Musenge said Mr Sata was a staunch Catholic and when he died, the mass was in the Catholic Church, wondering why the memorial service could be held at the Anglican Church.
“Mr Sata was a respected and staunch Catholic and when one of his sons died, despite him not being in good standing with the church, mass was held in Catholic Church. Even when Mr Sata himself died, mass was held in Catholic church. So why should his memorial be held at the Anglican church?
“I have respect for Dr Kaseba, Mulenga Sata and others, but on this one i differed with them because I believe the memorial was supposed to be held in the Catholic church where Mr Sata was a member,” he said.
Mr Musenge said the confusion which rocked the memorial service was a clear indication that President Hakainde Hichilema was not a good leader and thrives on division and antagonising people.
He said the memorial service was a simple thing which could not have created such a division.
“The memorial service was a simple think which could not have resulted into such a hullaballoo. If we can fail to provide leadership on such a thing like memorial, what about bigger events,” he said.
