ZAMBIAN assistant FIFA referee Diana Chikotesha could not hold back tears of joy as she received a hero’s welcome after flying the Zambian flag high at the 2023 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast.
Chikotesha made history when she became the first female on-pitch match official to feature in a men’s AFCON final which was eventually won by hosts Ivory Coast who defeated Nigeria 2-1 at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan.
