OPPOSITION political parties alone cannot fight against the dictatorship which the UPND had pushed the country into, says Cosmas Musumali, the general secretary and first Vice President of the Socialist Party.

Dr Musumali says civil society organisations, the church and citizens of like-minded must therefore come together and fight the plan by the UPND to turn the country into a one-party state.
“As Socialist Party we are working behind the scenes to work with other stakeholders to stop the UPND’s path of destruction of multi-partism.
The chaos which the UPND has caused has manifested itself in by-elections as could be seen by the heavy presence of police during nominations in anticipation of confusion,” he said.
Dr Musumali said in its quest to hold on to power, UPND is going to cause confusion in many opposition political parties.
He said the formula UPND used is to bring confusion in the opposition camp.
“Despite having been voted for by over a million people, UPND is insecure because they have lost popularity. UPND has lost popularity quickly because of the high cost of living and the high cost of doing business as well as the inability to control the macro economic situation,” Dr Musumali said.
He said UPND has become jittery and nervous.
