GOVERNMENT through the Ministry of Small and Medium Enterprise Development has launched the first-ever 2023 Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMED) policy, the 2023-26 Strategic Plan and Service Delivery Charter.

Speaking at the official launch, the minister Mr Elias Mubanga said the policy aims to provide a framework that addresses the challenges affecting MSMEs and to exploit opportunities in the business environment to achieve sustainable growth of the sector and ultimately contribute to the country’s social economic transformation.
Mr Mubanga added that the strategic plan has been formulated to provide the ministry and stakeholders with a strategic and focused operational framework for effective execution of the ministry’s mandate thereby, contributing to the realisation of the aspirations of the eighth national development programme (8NDP).
He also called on stakeholders to rally behind the ministry in supporting the implementation of programmes that will be delivered from the policy and strategic plan.
Meanwhile, Permanent Secretary Subeta Mutelo said the policy is a critical document which will enable full execution of the ministry’s mandate.
Ms Mutelo said the launch also marks the debut of the ministry’s service felivery charter, cementing the pledge to uphold the highest standards of service excellence.
And Finnish Deputy Ambassador to Zambia, Jan Koivu has commended the ministry for launching a roadmap that will hence lead to effective implementation of the policy.
