CommerceMiniter Chipoka Mulenga, Tanzanian High Commissioner to Zambia, Mathew Mkingule yestwerday officially flagged off the manufacturing of the NPK tobacco fertiliser
Mr Mulenga said UCF was exporting about 15 000 metric tons of Compound D fertilizer to Botswana and that the one flagged off yesterday to Tanzania was testimony that Africa had now awaken and stated doing business with each other. He said inter regional trade was the only way African countries could develop.

Mr Mulenga said the export of fertiliser to Tanzania and Botswana was confirmation that UCF produces a commodity that meets the international standards and it must be trusted by the local people.
He said Zambia is now Compound D sufficient and the exports has changed the status of the country from being a net importer.
Mr Mulenga said the export of fertiliser was in line with President Hakainde Hichilema’s vision of working with the private sector in adding value to what the country is producing. He said ever since the establishment of UCF, the prices of fertilizer on the local market have gone down from K1300 to K700. And Tanzanian High Commissioner Mr Mkingule, said in the spirit of Southern African Development Community, Africa Continent Free Trade Area and COMESA, Zambia and Tanzania were able to trade with each other.
Meanwhile UCF acting board chairperson, Joseph Mbinji, said the project to export fertilizer comes at a time when Southern Africa was facing risks of food securities as a result of global events such as war and health pandemics which caused a disruption.
He said the construction of UCF has demonstrated the favorable economic policies Zambia and the Southern African Development Community can lead to Industrialisation.
