PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema says works to rehabilitate the Tanzania-Zambia Railways (TAZARA) will start soon.

President Hichilema said this is after China, Zambia and Tanzania agreed to work on the railway line.
He said the railway line is key to Zambia’s economic development.
And President Hichilema has announced that he will today launch the construction of chiefs’ palaces in Luapula Province.
Speaking when he addressed chiefs in Kasama yesterday, Mr Hichilema said he will ensure that all the chiefs have palaces by 2026.
President Hichilema said the government will also consider the request by chiefs to have vehicles.
Meanwhile, President Hichilema has directed the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development Mr Gary Nkombo to organise a meeting where chiefs with succession wrangles will resolve their differences.
This was after a request from the Bemba Paramount Chief Chitimukulu.
President Hichilema said government wants succession wrangles to be addressed peacefully and outside court as the confusions in chiefdoms is only retarding development. – ZNBC.
