Speaking at the just ended 20th African Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) Forum in Johannesburg, South Africa after visiting various stands of the Zambian private sector, Mr. Mulenga expressed happiness at the number of Zambians who came to display various products and services at AGOA Forum Expo.
Meanwhile, Zambia’s High Commissioner to South Africa Ms. Mazuba Monze reiterated the Government’s effort in ensuring that the private is given the best platform to operate effectively.
She noted that the Government places a high premium on the private sector because it is a critical partner in the development of the country.
The High Commissioner said the expo provided an opportunity for promoting, attracting, and selling Zambian products to the world as well as creating long lasting partnerships, networking and sharing knowledge.
And Ms. Ethel Mwambazi Kandiwo, Public Relation and Marketing Manager at 260 Brands Zambia, said she is happy that her company exhibited at the expo and that the AGOA Forum provided an opportunity to showcase their products and a chance to expand into markets beyond Zambia.
AGOA is a mutually beneficial trade and investment partnership that benefits both the African eligible countries and the U.S. and has fostered the development of regional value chains among eligible countries, thereby contributing towards enhancing intra-Africa trade and development.
The theme of this year’s Forum is “partnering to build a resilient, sustainable and an inclusive AGOA to support economic development, industrialization, and quality job creation.”
