Given Lubinda, the vice president of the PF along with his secretary general Raphael Nakacinda and Emmanuel Mwamba, the chairperson for information and publicity were yesterday detained in three different police stations on the same offence of sedition.
The three were initially summoned to Police Force headquarters where they were interrogated before being driven to Ibex Hill Police Station where they were warned and cautioned before being taken to three different police stations for detention.
Lawyer Jonas Zimba said Mr Lubinda has been charged with the offence of refusing to surrender a diplomatic passport and had been transported to Westwood Police Station in Lusaka West while Nakacinda had been moved to Emmasdale Police with Mr Mwamba having been taken to Chilenje Police Station.
Mr Zimba confirmed the arrest and dentition of the three senior PF officials, warning Zambians to be ready for the worst form of authoritarianism under the Hakainde Hichilema administration.
He said Zambians had without doubt been Balkanised with the police having been converted into an oppression tool against opposition political party leaders and citizens with dissent.
Rae Hamoonga, the Zambia Police spokesperson yesterday announced that the Police had formerly arrested and charged Mwamba for the offence of Seditious Practices Contrary to Section 57(1) (b) as read with Section 60 (1) (a) (b) (d) (I) of the Penal Code Act Chapter 87 of the laws of Zambia.
Mr Hamoonga said, Mwamba aged 52 of plot 136A Chandwe Musonda road Villa Elizabeth in Lusaka on November 4, 2023 did publish information likely to bring hatred or contempt or excite disaffection against the administration of justice in Zambia
