Eng. Zulu says although the increase in fuel prices is attributed to a number of factors among them the exchange rate and high cost of transportation, this could have been mitigated only if government did not disengage from managing the fuel procurement.
He says the decision to disengage from managing the fuel procurement process has also led to a lack of strategic fuel reserve leaving the country vulnerable to fluctuations in currency and weak economy.
Eng. Zulu has since urged government to adhere to suggestions from stakeholders in the energy sector if the sector is to be improved going forward.
