Mr Ndhlovu says this is an important project because the Konkola Deep Mine Project in Chililabombwe is one of the deepest mines in the world as it stands at 1.5 km deep.
He says there is high grade copper which can benefit the nation through foreign exchange.
Mr Ndhlovu indicates that previously, Vedanta invested about US$973 million and that certain works were differed such as the pump, chamber and meter leveling.
He says Vedanta will go back to the shaft to resume with the works that were differed. Mr Ndhlovu also says that Vedanta wants to beef up its communication strategy so that there will be flow of information about what the investor is doing in the country.
He says considering the fact that KCM is a national strategic asset, Vedanta sees it fit to invest in this area of communication.
