PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema says Government will continue to prioritise the local pharmaceutical industry when procuring medicine and medical supplies.

Mr Hichilema has since urged those mandated to procure medicines and medical supplies to ensure that these are obtained locally.
President Hichilema said the government can only source the essential medical commodities outside when they are not available in the country during a critical period.
He is convinced that the local manufacturing industry has the capacity to produce the much-needed medicines and medical supplies.
Speaking when he held a meeting with Africa CDC delegation in Lusaka yesterday, President Hichilema said the country is on the road to achieve the value addition agenda to many products and Zambia is going to have enough medicines and medical supplies.
And President Hichilema has urged African leaders to find home grown solutions to pandemics that hit the continent.
He said, to achieve this, the governments cannot work in isolation but engage those with technology.
He also indicated that there is need to have the resource envelop to achieve the goal.
