GERMANY is impressed with the economic reforms Zambia is undertaking under President Hakainde Hichilema and has pledged to support the country programmes meant to alleviate poverty.

President of German Dr Frank-Walter Steinmeier says his country was ready to enhance economic cooperation with Zambia arising from good and positive economic progression being championed by the government of President Hichilema.
Speaking when he received letters of credence from Zambia’s Ambassador to Germany, Winnie Chibesakunda, President Steinmeier said the warm bilateral relations between Zambia and Germany were a catalyst for mutual cooperation in many fiels of economic development.
During the ceremony at the Schloss Bellevue Palace, the official residence of the Federal President, President Steinmeier conveyed his warm regards to President Hichilema and thanked him for the appointment of Ms. Chibesakunda.
“I am impressed with Zambia’s economic reforms and Germany will support programmes that are aimed at alleviating poverty in Zambia. Germany is ready to enhance its economic cooperation with Zambia arising from the positivity of the Government of President Hichilema,” President Steinmeier said.
And Ms. Chibesakunda conveyed fraternal greetings from President Hichilema and the Zambian people and expressed her sincere gratitude for being accorded the opportunity to present her letters of credence adding that it was a sign of the warm bilateral relations shared between the Federal Republic of Germany and the Republic of Zambia.
According to a statement issued by Lubinda Kashewe, the First Secretary-Press at the Zambian Embassy in Berlin, Germany, Ms. Chibesakunda said that the long-standing bilateral relations between Germany and Zambia stretched way back to 1964 when Zambia gained her independence.
Ms. Chibesakunda stated that the two countries had continued to enjoy and strengthen their bilateral relations.
She explained that Zambia and Germany had cordial economic cooperation and looked forward to expanding and opening up new areas of economic cooperation for the mutual benefit of the two countries.
Ms. Chibesakunda stated that Zambia would remain committed to initiatives aimed at achieving global peace and security as instability in any part of the world had negative effects everywhere.
