GOVERNMENT says the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) in Muchinga Province has bought 832, 021 50kg bags of white maize valued at K237 109 600 as of October 8, 2023.

Provincial Permanent Secretary Henry Mukungule says, K230, 906, 760 has been paid out to farmers who supplied the maize.
Speaking when he addressed the media yesterday, Mr Mukungule explained that the agency in Chinsali and Shiwang’andu bought 204, 289 50kg bags of white maize.
Mr. Mukungule adds that, the agency in Isoka district bought 201, 463 50kg bags while Mafinga 100, 344 50 kg bags have been procured.
And FRA Public Relations Officer, John Chipandwe said the agency in Chinsali had embarked on a spot cash payments programme.
Mr Chipandwe said this has been done discourage farmers from selling their maize to brief case buyers who are normally in the habit of exploiting farmers.
Mr. Chipandwe said this will also enable farmers to prepare to adequately for the coming farming season.
