Speaking during a press briefing this morning, CCZ General Secretary Emmanuel Chikoya says although Government has increased the threshold for pay as you earn, most measures taken were unlikely to have positive impact on the citizens.
Fr Chikoya said it was regrettable that when it comes to policy measures, Government had continued giving priority to mining companies at the expense of the poor citizens.
Meanwhile Fr Chikoya said the decision by government to release maize for community purchases as means of providing cheaper milling source is not the best way of stabilizing the mealie meal prices.
He said the move would give rise to the price of commodity purchases and encourage briefcase buyers to take advantage of the whole process.
Fr Chikoya has since encouraged Government to find other means of stabilizing the price of mealie meal on the market.
