A DELEGATION from Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA) and the Zambia Medicines Regulatory Authority (ZAMRA) has arrived in Egypt to commence the pre-inspection process of medicines and medical supplies to be procured from the Unified Procurement Authority (UPA) of Egypt.

The team, headed by Kennedy Lishimpi, who is ZAMMSA Board Vice Chaiperson and Director of clinical and diagnostics at the Ministry of Health, is in Egypt to ensure that the medicines to be supplied to Zambia conform to the contractual obligations stated in the agreement between the two governments.
Head of the mission at the Egypt embassy, Major General Topply Lubaya expressed confidence in the quality of medicines that Egypt produces and stated that it would immensely help to improve the availability of medicines in Zambia.
He has since implored the visiting delegation to pay uttermost attention to the manufacturing and expiry dates of the medicines to ensure that efficacy levels are maintained.
And Dr Lishimpa reiterated that ZAMMSA would endeavour to ensure that the procurement of essential medicines is subjected to a timely, good price and quality assurance process.
He also thanked Maj- Gen Lubaya for playing an instrumental role in ensuring that UPA contract with the Zambian government comes to fruition.
