WE are surprised that Matero Member of Parliament Miles Sampa appears intent to promote physical confrontation instead of resolving differences amicably within the Patriotic Front.

Mr Sampa recently declared that he was taking over the PF secretariat and locking up the place until the party holds its elective conference earmarked for October 28.
Mr Sampa invaded the PF premises with a horde of political cadres suspected to have been hired and caused some damages at the secretariat.
In an act of continued defiance, Mr Sampa has announced that he plans to hold a press briefing at the secretariat tomorrow.
Mr Sampa must be well aware that this time around, there could be physical confrontation between his supporters and the other members or officials in charge of the secretariat.
After his earlier invasion of the PF secretariat and decision to “lock up” the place, we asked Mr Sampa how he expects the administrative team to prepare for the conference when they will not have access to the documents need to prepare reports.
Mr Sampa was apparently against the changes made to the central committee in which Mr Raphael Nakacinda was appointed as PF secretary general in place of incarcerated Nickson Chilangwa.
Moreover, as we pointed out, Mr Sampa is not an ordinary member of the PF, but was regarded as a senior member who cannot fail to engage his colleagues in a non-confrontational manner if ever he was aggrieved.
Mr Sampa was reported to the police for vandalism caused to the PF secretariat. To our knowledge, the police have not acted on that criminal complaint filed by the party.
This time around, we shudder what could happen should the two sides confront each other.
The PF has warned Mr Sampa to desist from provocative actions and have called upon the police to deal with the Matero lawmaker because his motives were to cause violence at the secretariat.
Emmanuel Mwamba, the PF information and publicity chairperson said Mr Sampa would be trespassing should he return to the PF secretariat which a few days ago he had pulverised using some hired youths.
Mr Mwamba has appealed to the police command to arrest Mr Sampa for his barbaric conduct against a political organisation he claims he is a member.
“This time around, we shall not allow him. He will be trespassing and we are asking the Zambia police to deal with Mr Sampa because he is being a social and political nuisance. He should not be allowed to cause more damage to the sectretariat,” Mr Mwamba said.
If anything, one wonders what Mr Sampa is trying to achieve for during his last visit, his group even lit a fire within the PF premises.
Mr Sampa is one of the candidates aspiring for the PF presidency and much is expected from him on how to deal with dissenting views within their party.
We do not think playing to the gallery would help matters or help his cause. It would only malign him from the general membership who might end up regarding him as a spoiler.
