GOVERNMENT has commenced investigations to ascertain if Zambia has been affected with the outbreak of the Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza that has affected South Africa.

South Africa has recorded the Highly Pathogenic Avian Influenza which has so far killed 2.6 million chickens across the country.
Livestock and Fisheries Minister Makozo Chikote says government is engaging relevant authorities within the ministry in order to identify the affected areas.
Mr. Chikote says he will give an updated on the measures that will be put in place regarding the avian disease once investigations are concluded.
Meanwhile, the Poultry Association of Zambia PAZ says the Avian Influenza can negatively impact on Zambia’s Poultry Industry if strict measures are not put in place to prevent the vice as soon as possible.
