ESMAZ president Victor Kalesha has explained that one major hindrance to development of the emerald mining sub-sector is the lack of competitiveness despite discovery of a wide array of minerals in other parts of the country.
Mr. Kalesha said there is need for Zambians to invest in this area to enhance competiveness in the industry.
He said this could be done through partnership with another investor and it would entail that funds coming through such ventures would be internalised.
Mr. Kalesha has, however, urged Government to create an enabling environment for growth of the gemstones mining sub-sector in this regard.
