SAFADA chief executive office Boyd Moobwe has cited policy inconsistency in the agriculture sector as some of the major failures of the UPND government, which he says had resulted into sector failing to perform.
Mr. Moobwe said the assurances by President Hakainde Hichilema that things will change especially with measures put in place to stabilize the agriculture sector was not attainable because the cost of production had remained high.
He said the cost of production had remained high, therefore, Zambians would see further upward price adjustment of commodities.
Mr Moobwe said the new dawn Government had messed up the agriculture sector which was worrying.
He said the cancellation of the fertiliser tender would result in late farming input distribution and this would cost the yield for the next harvesting season.
And Mr Moobwe said it was shocking that exportation of mealie meal had continued whilst the country was experience the shortage of the commodity.
