EF Chairperson for Information and Media Fewdays Nsensema said Zambians needed to be aware of what has been agreed upon before handing over the mines to investors.
“As Economic Front, we demand that the UPND government should immediately publish the details of the mining agreements and conditions they are signing with the new mine investors for KCM and Mopani Copper Mines to the general public so that Zambians are aware before handing over the mines especially to Vedanta.
We also want to remind the UPND government that you should hand over KCM to Vedanta at your own risk because Vedanta had a record and reputation of violating mining agreements and contracts,” he said.
Mr Nsensema said the UPND government must not underrate and ignore the bad history Vedanta which led to the liquidation of the KCM.
He said thinking that Vedanta would run the mine better because the UPND government was in power was farfetched.
